The Matanuska-Susitna Valley, commonly referred to as “The Valley” is located 45 minutes north of Anchorage via the Glenn Highway. There are three incorporated cities within the Borough: Houston, Palmer, and Wasilla. In addition to these cities, there are several unincorporated communities and 25 Borough-recognized community councils.

The Matanuska Valley, spreading over 23,000 square miles, was settled by agricultural homesteaders in the 1930’s. To this day, there is a strong agricultural presence still in the community. The low population density and large land spread encourages homeowners to enjoy an endless supply of possibilities with readily available land.

Surrounded by towering mountains, huge glacier valleys, fish-filled rivers and lakes, abundant Alaska wildlife, hiking country, scenic camping and quaint frontier communities – the Mat-Su Valley is what many visualize when they think of Alaskan living.
